Effects of electrotonus on the electrical activities of spinal motoneurons of the toad.

چکیده
The method of intracellular potential recording made it possible to investigate the effect of electrotonus on the cellular activities more precisely than before, by using the membrane potential as a parameter. Many studies along this line thus appeared in succession with various kinds of tissues 1, 7,s,15,16'17,18,19,23,31) In the present paper, the results obtained with the spinal motoneurons of the toad will be described. Single intracellular microelectrodes in a bridge circuit were used for applying electric currents to the motoneuron and for the simultaneous recording of its response. This method, first introduced by ARAKI and OTANI1), has already been tried with modifications and discussed by many investigators6,10,11,12,13,17, 18, 30) and, in spite of a few disadvantages pointed out by some of them, has proved to be convenient and reliable, if sufficient caution is paid to its limitations.

Post-Operative Time Effects after Sciatic Nerve Crush on the Number of Alpha Motoneurons, Using a Sterological Counting Method (Disector)
There are extensive evidences that show axonal processes of the nervous system (peripheral and/or central) may be degenerated after nerve injuries. Wallerian degeneration and chromatolysis are the most conspicuous phenomena that occur in response to injuries. In this research, the effects of post-operative time following sciatic nerve crush on the number of spinal motoneurons were investigated....

Purpose: The goal of this research was to study of the protective effects horse tail (HT) plant extract on the central degeneration of alpha motoneurons (AM) of spinal cord.Materials and Methods: The lesioned sciatic rats were divided into sham, control and 3 experimental groups and treated by 15 mg/kg, ip HT extract. The animals were care for one month and then were sacrificed and perfused car...

Background and Objective: Sciatic nerve transection is characterized by a rapid wave of motoneuron death associated with progressive synaptic lesions. The purpose of this study was to evaluate the long term synaptic changes. Materials and Methods: This basic study was carried out on paraffin- or resin-em...
متن کاملNeuroprotective Effects of Sodium Meta Silicate on Motoneurons of Spinal Cord Ventral Horn In Rats Underwent to Compressived Injury of Sciatic Nerve
Purpose: It has been shown that sodium meta silicate has an antioxidant effects and suppress the production of oxidative enzymes. Since the inflammation phenomena and increase the level of free radicals mostly take part in post-injury neuronal degeneration, the purpose of the present research was to examine weather the antioxidant property of sodium meta silicate can prevent the central degener...

Background and Objective: Because of the critical role of cell death in the pathology of neurodegenerative diseases, its prevention is regarded as one of the most salient ends in neuroprotective strategies. Concerning the bulk of reports about the putative neuroprotective effects of erythropoietin (Epo), in the present study following axotomy, the effects of different doses of Epo on spinal mo...
